With a length of 777 kilometers, the Seine originates in Burgundy and empties into the English Channel. The banks of the Seine in Paris were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991.The 2024 Paris Olympics will also be the first Olympic Games in history to have its opening ceremony held outside of a stadium (on the Seine River).
